This was my final project during my fabrica residency. We need technology. Technology needs us. Dead electronics/obsolete technology is more beautiful than working electronics because when they are dead and obsolete they are awake to not function as they suppose to, they can get used in multiple ways. They just need human interaction/efforts to show their magic. My concept is to use/hack obsolete technology/dead electronics to make them function in creatively different ways, and give them a different purpose, a life back. The Beauty Inside is an interactive installation to understand human interaction/efforts are important to make dead electronics/obsolete technology show the beautiful magic. The installation is made of obsolete technology and e-waste found from an event production company near Fabrica: LCD monitors. LCD monitors were once a breakthrough technology, but as it happens to any technology sooner or later, alternatives are being developed that push it into the background. This installation is describing relation between human and technology and how with humans basic senses now technology is the extension of it. My Role:I made this project &lt;3. From its initial concept to execution. This included idea generation, installation design and setup, animation creation for the LCD screens, and even the production of the special glasses required for user engagement. Five of them symbolize the five fundamental human senses, while the sixth LCD screen represents technology as an extension of these five senses, reflecting its integration into our daily lives. Initially, all the user sees is a blank white screen. To engage with the installation, one must don a pair of glasses. Through these glasses, the user is immersed in art that explores the intersection of human senses and technology displayed on the LCD screens. Without the glasses, all they perceive is the same blank white screen. This interactive installation underscores the significance of human interaction in unlocking the enchantment of both cutting-edge and obsolete electronic technology, including e-waste. It serves as a testament to the profound magic that lies within our relationship with technology and electronics. The end screen represents the concept of the installation by showcasing “Technology needs Us, We need Technology”. EXPO 2020 DUBAI Client: Government of India&nbsp;Location: DubaiYear: 2021Skill: Augmented Reality, Javascript&nbsp; About the project:Expo 2020 Dubai, a World Expo hosted by the United Arab Emirates, was held from October 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022. Originally scheduled for October 20th, 2020 to April 10th, 2021, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This extraordinary event offered a new home for inspiration, where people had 182 days to collaborate, innovate, and witness humanity's incredible achievements. Visitors were invited to wander through the stunning architecture of pavilions, which showcased groundbreaking technological advances and immersive experiences. I had the privilege of working for the Indian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, where I served as a creative technologist for four interactive installations. My Role:As a creative technologist, my role was to design and code the programs of the interactive installations, ensuring that each installation operated flawlessly and created a memorable experience for visitors. Visitors can simply scan a QR code and use their smartphones or ipad placed near the monuments to bring these monuments to life, allowing them to witness live elements and immerse themselves in the breathtaking beauty of "Incredible India." This installation features a total of seven monuments and includes captivating graphics on the walls. It represents an innovative fusion of physical and digital elements, delivering a comprehensive and enchanting encounter with the wonders of India. 2: Interactive Astronomy Exhibit Our exhibit delves into the rich history of Indian astronomy, an integral part of the Indian subcontinent's scientific heritage. We presented information about renowned Indian astronomers through an engaging touch screen kiosk. This interactive display allows visitors to explore the fascinating world of astronomy with ease. Featuring multiple tabs and a user-friendly interface, it provides an immersive experience, inviting visitors to interact and learn about the captivating realm of astronomy and the illustrious astronomers who have contributed to its legacy. 3: Augmented Reality Selfie Experience Transport yourself into the diverse and vibrant tapestry of Indian cultures with our immersive augmented reality selfie experience. Using your smartphone's camera, simply scan the QR code displayed on the screen. This will unveil a captivating journey through India's renowned states and their unique cultures, allowing you to virtually don cultural attire and explore iconic monuments. Capture memorable pictures in traditional Indian garb and share them on social media or save them to your phone. Inspired by the legendary New York nightclub of the 1970s, the project explored how interactive technology could recreate the atmosphere, energy, and social experience of one of the most iconic clubs in history. Visitors stepped into a recreated Studio 54 environment where they dressed in retro accessories, danced in front of large-scale interactive projections, and captured a personalized digital souvenir at the end of the experience. By combining real-time interaction, projection mapping, lighting, music, and storytelling, the installation transformed visitors from spectators into active participants while reimagining the iconic nightclub through contemporary technology. Here is documentation of the project:&nbsp;Documentation My Role:My role focused on the technical development and implementation of the installation. This included planning the technical setup, creating equipment and production lists, managing system requirements, and ensuring all hardware components such as projectors, cameras, speakers, lighting, and control systems were properly integrated. A key responsibility was developing the interactive system in TouchDesigner, handling projection mapping, camera integration, and real-time visual logic. Additional work included configuring DMX lighting to support the spatial atmosphere and developing the web-based photo booth application. Using live camera input, movement on the dance floor was translated into dynamic retro-style visual effects, where participants appeared as pixelated, distorted, and reactive forms within the projection. As the energy of the space increased, a Disco Heat Level system responded to collective movement, visually amplifying the intensity of the environment and encouraging group interaction on the dance floor. The system was developed in TouchDesigner, combining camera tracking, interaction logic, visual design, and projection mapping. Two projectors were edge-blended into a single seamless display, while DMX-controlled lighting was synchronized with the visuals to enhance the immersive club atmosphere. Visitors were able to see themselves in real time before capturing a photo placed within Studio 54-inspired digital backdrops. A physical button built using Arduino and conductive aluminium foil triggered the interaction, initiating a short countdown before capturing the image. The captured photo was automatically uploaded to the cloud, and a QR code was generated instantly, allowing visitors to download their image directly to their phones. My Role:The project focused on the development of a real-time interactive visual system built in TouchDesigner. The system was designed to support a live performance structure and respond directly to the performer’s movement and the pre-composed soundtrack. The performance was structured into four interconnected visual scenes, each representing a different emotional and narrative state. Scene transitions, visual behaviors, and interaction logic were designed to operate seamlessly in real time during the performance. A Kinect-based tracking system was integrated to capture the performer’s body movements and translate them into visual parameters. Although these systems were not fully used in the final Studio 54 installation due to existing venue lighting conditions, they served as an important technical exploration into interactive lighting workflows. My Role:The project focused entirely on hands-on technical development and experimentation with DMX lighting systems inside TouchDesigner. This included setting up lighting fixtures, configuring DMX communication, and designing real-time interaction systems that connected digital inputs to physical lighting outputs. The work also involved testing different input pipelines and building experimental systems for live control, combining visual programming with hardware-based lighting infrastructure. 1: Face-Controlled Moving Head Light A computer vision system was developed to control a moving head light using facial tracking. Head movement controlled pan and tilt direction, while additional facial gestures triggered lighting changes such as color shifts, flashes, and automated movement sequences. This experiment combined gesture recognition with physical lighting control, creating an intuitive real-time interface between human movement and stage lighting behavior. 2: Webcam Color Tracking to Light Output A vision-based system was created using a live webcam feed to extract dominant color information from the environment. This color data was then mapped directly to DMX lighting fixtures. As the camera view changed, the lighting system continuously adapted, reflecting real-world colors in real time through physical lights. 3: Audio Reactive Lighting System A real-time lighting system was developed where sound input controlled DMX light behavior. The installation captures physical gestures and transforms them into dreamlike visuals using AI stream diffusion, layered across six interconnected screens. Floating particles, fragmented text, and glitch aesthetics echo Paik’s philosophy, blending human movement with machine logic. Spatially mapped sound, including excerpts of Paik’s own voice, guides viewers through the environment, enhancing the connection between visuals, movement, and media theory. My Role:I captured and digitized my own movements to generate visual content, developing AI-driven surreal visuals that were layered across multiple screens using TouchDesigner. By integrating Paik-inspired glitch aesthetics, textual fragments, and particle systems, I enhanced both the narrative and spatial cohesion of the work. Through observation and reflection, they turn off the garden lights, allowing fireflies to illuminate the space naturally, and finally witness the star-filled sky. The narrative emphasizes awareness of environmental impact and promotes mindfulness toward sustainable lighting. This workshop focused on repurposing discarded electronics and obsolete technology in innovative ways. During the workshop, I transformed an old computer keyboard into a game controller. I designed a game and presented it as part of the workshop to demonstrate how to repurpose a keyboard through hacking and turn it into sensors for creative use. Check it out here&nbsp; My Role: I taught the participants how to hack electronics by creating, assembling, and coding a game using the hacked keyboard. The zine is part of a larger project celebrating live coding, algorithmic sound, and generative design across India and the diaspora, showcasing how code can be a medium for both music and visual storytelling. Past/Lives itself visualizes the track’s sonic journey, inspired by personal and imagined pasts, including the courtyard of a childhood music school in Jaipur. The zine translates these layered soundscapes into interactive, code-driven visuals, creating a reflective and immersive experience that connects sound, memory, and cultural heritage. At the center of attention were three distinguished guests, poised to unveil the new product. Their role was pivotal in triggering the product launch, and they did so with a unique and captivating motion-detection installation. In this immersive experience, the guests raised their hands one by one, signaling the launch sequence. This innovative motion-detection mechanism added an element of interactivity and anticipation to the event, engaging the audience on a whole new level. My Role:My role in this project was to bring this cutting-edge installation to life using Unity 3D.
